Rebecca Cauthen, Link UP lead teacher

Miss Cauthen graduated from Shorter University in Georgia with a Bachelor's in Piano Pedagogy (private teaching) and then went on to receive her Bachelor's of Music Education and Master of Music in Teaching from Northern Arizona University.  She has worked at Maine Consolidated School for 24 years teaching music, Spanish, band, choir, Character Counts, Mindfulness, Odyssey of the Mind, as well as gardening.

Rebecca’s philosophy is that every student should experience and enjoy making music. The human brain lights up and engages when experiencing music and language development. Music and language learning are imperative on their own and open an entirely new world to students. Her hopes and dreams are that students can bring their own music to the world and speak in multiple languages to share it. Her favorite activities in class include learning how to play music, having students design and create their own instruments, reading novels in Spanish, and preparing to play with the symphony at the annual field trip to the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra.

Her work outside of school includes the role of accompanist at Flagstaff Federated Community Church,  pianist at Black Barts Steakhouse, private teaching,  and Lead Teacher for the Carnegie Hall Link Up program with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra.
